It’s International Women’s Day #IWD2021 and the theme for 2021 is #choosetochallenge to encourage people to commit to helping forge an inclusive world.
As a Black woman I know all too well how isolating it can be as you consistently challenge things in this world. To be seen, to be heard, to be accepted, to be valued.
We are a voice for the voiceless. We love those often left behind. We build tables that don’t exist so others can eat. We toast to our own accomplishments. We do it with grace and strength that many couldn’t fathom.
Choosing to challenge may leave you sitting at tables alone. But I built it, and I’m still gonna eat…. AND WELL.
