My Morning Routine

Having a good morning routine really set the tone of the day for me, and mitigates feelings of anxiety. I’m someone who does really well things that are predictable and consistent so developing and altering routines that fit my life are best for me.

I currently have a new routine that is working very well for me and keeping me calm, focused and accomplished throughout the day.

Most days I’m up between 6 and 6:30am (as I have to get up and feed Chloe). Here is how my morning routine goes:

Prayer

The first thing I do upon waking up is a quick prayer. I like starting my day with gratitude and asking God to guide my steps for the day.

Devotional

I lean over and grab my Jesus Calling devotional book from my nightstand and read what the message is for the day accompanied by the scripture. I have a number of other apps and resources I use for mindfulness and meditation that you can see here

Wash my face and Brush teeth

Now this may seem simple to you, but after being in the house over 100 days I won’t lie and say I didn’t skip this some mornings, which ultimately led to my skincare routine falling off.

Water with Lemon

I guzzle water with lemon before I eat anything or do any sort of exercise for the day. It’s great to alkalize the body and does wonders for my skin.

Move My Body

I started to take Chloe on longer walks in the morning and its been doing wonders for not only my mood but hers. She’s more worn out and then sleeps longer (allowing me to get more work done when we get back. Getting up and moving my body first thing in the morning feels amazing, and doing 2-3 miles before breakfast I meet about half of my exercise goal for the day.

Green Tea with Lemon

Green tea with lemon and sometimes a shot of ACV is another great detoxing way to start my day, and I’m not a coffee girl. Tea is my hot drink of choice.
